About MammoCheck
MammoCheck Ltd is a Cyprus-based medical technology company and a Frederick University spin-out. We are developing an AI-powered Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) for adjunctive breast cancer screening. Our solution pairs consumer thermal imaging hardware with a proprietary deep learning model, delivered through a smartphone application, and is designed to support rather than replace clinical judgement. The product is positioned strictly as adjunctive and investigational while we advance toward FDA 510(k) clearance and CE marking under the EU Medical Device Regulation (EU MDR). We are now building the in-house regulatory and quality capability that will carry the product through clinical validation, regulatory submission, and market entry.
Role overview
As Business Development Manager, you will be the person who finds and develops the opportunities that carry MammoCheck forward before revenue: grants, partnerships, competitions, and relationships. You will manage our grant end to end, including milestone reporting and deliverable coordination, and you will identify and lead applications for new national and EU funding. You will represent the company at events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings, and you will support the day-to-day coordination of our growing network of clinical, academic, institutional, and commercial stakeholders. On grant-funded projects you will act as the designated Project Manager. This is a versatile, people-first role at the centre of the company, reporting directly to the CEO, for someone who is equally comfortable writing a rigorous funding proposal and working a conference floor.
What you will implement
- Manage the active grant end to end: milestone tracking, progress and financial reporting, deliverable evidence, and correspondence with the funding authority, acting as the designated Project Manager of the funded project.
- Identify, evaluate, and lead applications for new funding opportunities, including national programmes and EU instruments, coordinating input from the founders, clinical team, and technical team.
- Represent MammoCheck at events, conferences, competitions, and stakeholder meetings in Cyprus and abroad, delivering the company narrative accurately and professionally.
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the ecosystem: clinics and hospitals, universities, funding bodies, industry partners, and professional networks.
- Scout and qualify partnership opportunities and prepare briefing materials, leaving final commitments and negotiations to the founders.
- Support day-to-day operations with stakeholders: scheduling, follow-ups, meeting preparation, minutes, and keeping commitments on track.
- Maintain the pipeline of grants, competitions, accelerators, and partnership opportunities, with deadlines and owners visible to the team.
- Uphold the company's communication standards in all external representation, using only approved language and materials.
Guidance, training, and support
You will not be doing this alone. Strategy and specialist judgement are provided by our external consultants, who will train you on the frameworks, review your work, and remain available throughout. The management team provides direction and removes blockers, and the technical team supplies the engineering inputs and tooling you need. Your job is to implement, own the day-to-day system, and grow into the expert in the room.
Required qualifications
- A degree in business, economics, sciences, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Three or more years of experience in business development, grant or EU project management, consulting, or a comparable externally facing role.
- Proven writing ability. Grant applications and reports are a core part of this role, not an occasional task, and you should enjoy them.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the judgement to represent a company in a regulated field, where precision of language matters.
- Organisation and reliability: deadlines in funding are absolute.
- Fluent English.
Preferred qualifications
- Direct experience with RIF (Research and Innovation Foundation) programmes, Horizon Europe, or other EU funding instruments.
- Experience in health, medtech, or another regulated sector.
- An existing network in the Cyprus innovation and funding ecosystem.
- Experience representing an organisation at events or in the press.
What we offer
- A competitive salary.
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
- Structured guidance and training from our external regulatory and quality consultants, including U.S. and EU advisors.
- Direct support from the management team and the technical team, so you are never implementing alone.
- Support for professional development and certification, including RAPS and ISO 13485 training.
- A rare breadth of experience for your CV: EU grant management, partnership development, and event representation for a clinical-stage medtech, reporting directly to the CEO.
